Will be making over the commissions page heavily soon and deleting my old commission post.
Not that it’s a big deal, I just figured I’d put that out there.
A WIP/Preview post because I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON ThINGS
a challenger approaches who could it be
Kings and Queens!
Part of my Chess Set
(Since I had some people getting them confused, the “Kings” are the ones with the little “gem” balls on their crowns).
And finally we have it! My completed Chess Set! (With some pre-firing progress shots for comparison).
"Black Orchids vs. Red Roses."
Pretend the black pieces look more like orchids.
The board pieces were crafted and then sanded (some were sanded before the first firing [not hard] and more were sanded AFTER the first firing [harder]) to have smooth edges. Half of them were then glazed with amber (as you can see, some of them ended up a bit mottled due to my own ineptitude, but it actually didn’t turn out to be a big eyesore) and the other half were painted in matte black acrylic (on the bottom to keep them from sliding more) and then were painted with gloss black and then another coat of clear gloss acrylic on top to make them shine.
The chess pieces were all crafted, fired, and then painted with acrylic (none of them use any glaze).
Detail shots of the different pieces:
"Three Apples and a Branch."
Sculpted with clay, fired, and then painted. The apples were glazed with green after the first firing and then fired again before adding the paint.
Some little sculptures I did over the break!
Three apples, one big octet dice, a slice of cake, and two chess pieces (Rook and Bishop to me).
(Roomie says I should make a whole chess board… The problem is, that’s all I want to work on right now!)
