Now for something completely different! (Or not) I entered the Syracuse NY Art Fest’s Annual Sidewalk Art Contest. Completely unsurprising - I drew a bird with fruit.
"A Bird Who Covets Berries" - Chalk, Sidewalk, 2014, 6 Hours
You guys thought I’d pooped out on you? You’re wrong! More color palette meme fills. This time, Bro had given me the option of doing an OC of mine with #17. It’s a little weird to introduce an OC this way - but this is my version of Persephone. As in Greek Mythology Persephone. I will do a proper character sheet for her sometime soon.
(Yes, she has a mohawk).
Shoooooot, what a great idea. I already do limited palette practice, but these are some nice presets to start with.
Don’t expect me to pump these out like sonyshock though. He’s some kind of magician. I’m slow as hell.
I’ll do this! Within reason. If I can be arsed…
If I get any good ones I’ll put aside 10 minutes to doodle one.
send me some colors and I’ll try and do a few tomorrow!
hmmm… could be fun…. no promises though…
8D this is so cute! i’m in
I’m reblogging this for reference; I can’t actually play this right now but wow it looks cool
The best thing you can ever do for me, as a friend or an acquaintance even. Is to remind me to work on art. Chances are, I will ALWAYS have a project I am working on that needs loads of work done on it.
Even better, if for some reason you know the name of any of my projects, then please, by all means - turn on capslock and hit up my inbox about 50 fucking times saying “WORK ON NITEOWLS” or “WORK ON NIGHTWALKER” or “WORK ON THAT THING WITH THE MAGES” or “MOTH LADY” or something.
Seriously, I am all for it.
Character Portrait: The Goddess of Witches. In her true form (above) she is often mistaken for an infernal being. The mother of a certain vampire lady. It was a pretty standard, old-fashioned birth - being created out of the raw ether and star-stuff with about 15 other “brothers and sisters”. Ask your mom about it, that’s how you were probably born.
Aliases: In her “human” guise, she goes by “Charlotte”.
Plot-Relevant Notes: She created the “Nightwalkers”, a species of humanoids imbued with some of her power. They were meant to be demon and abomination-fighters. She really did and still does love her kids, and it broke her heart when she lost all but one.
Notes: Slightly based on Greek Mythology’s Hecate. Slightly.
Edit: Added a portrait sans background.
Expect more back-story/art on my Ancient Vampire Lady soon.
I’m not sure if I’ve ever really explained to you guys - but I usually end up doing a lot more sketches and write-ups of characters that I never post on here because they just aren’t really worth posting. So it seems like I’ve just done like one or two things about them and that’s it, but really I’ve been working on a back-story and designs for the character and everything. I mean I’m sure that’s true for a lot of artists but I just wanted to mention it.
So I’m going to try to amend that lack of background and give you guys more, with accompanying sketches and such. My goal is to test the waters and see what people would think of the story I’ve cooked up for her - I’m calling it “Nightwalker" for now. I’m planning on turning it into a visual novel type deal at the moment, though part of me always wanted it to be some sort of game. At the moment I’m just floating around designs and back-story and haven’t decided yet.
Also always - I appreciate literally any and all feedback on projects I’m working on. It gives me insight into who would actually like to see these projects happen, and what I might need to work on. Even if you’re a follower I don’t really know. A like or a reblog, or any sort of commentary usually helps (unless it’s just something like “this art sux” or something a nine-year-old would say to look cool).
And of course you’ve heard me mention Niteowls off and on for several months now with just about no designs or much info. That is a webcomic I’ve had in the works for years, literally. I still do want to launch it this fall. And you will see a flood from me regarding that as well.
And that’s all for now, thank you for reading this and thank you for your support.
I do now post on my Twitter account. If anyone wants to hear me make tweets about birds and what I’m working on out there.
